MEMEC – Who They Are



MEMEC is a Leeds-based charity that supports refugees, asylum seekers, and migrants—especially from Middle Eastern and Mediterranean backgrounds. Founded in 2016, it focuses on education, advocacy, wellbeing, and community integration.

Education



  • ESOL (English) Classes: For adults, all levels (Pre-entry to Entry 3), in-person and online.

  • Arabic Classes: For children (ages 5+), including reading, writing, and GCSE/A-level prep.

  • Islamic Education: Quran, Hadith, Fiqh taught bilingually (English & Arabic).

  • Help with housing, benefits (e.g., Universal Credit), healthcare, school admissions, and form filling.
